  1. Did you know that until the 1980s, Boeing used ferrets to carry cables around the plane. Their role was cut short because they often gave up or had a nap on the job!
  2. Baby ferrets are born blind and deaf. They start to see and hear when they are about a 35 days old.
  3. An Irish myth holds that milk that a ferret has drunk from is blessed.
  4. A female ferret can have over 160 babies over her lifetime.
  5. Ferrets are so flexible that they can sleep in unusual positions.

  7. These mustelids can live up to 15 years!
  8. Ferrets reach maturity at 4-8 months of age.
  9. The Latin word 'furittus' translates as 'Little Thief' in English.
  10. All weasels (including ferrets) do the weasel war dance which is a combination of hops, bounces and playful nips. They do this when they are excited.
  11. Ferrets communicate with sounds like dooking, hissing and squealing.
